> Hottie Wilmer Valderrama will be the main draw in this zombie flick.
This comic book crossover finds That ’70s Show’s Wilmer Valderrama portraying 21-year-old Diego, who lives in East Los Angeles and is in love with Maria (Angie Cepeda). On the annual “Day of the Dead” celebration, he dresses up as a zombie for a party—but when he is killed in a car crash and his soul is taken over by a vicious Aztec god, he becomes a zombie for real. Diego soon finds himself using his superhero powers to save the soul of the girl he loves.
Shelf Talk: Not nearly as gory as one would expect from a zombie film, The Dead One might actually have some crossover appeal due to Mr. Valderrama’s presence as the Latin-American zombie superhero. At the very least, it should help set the film apart from the slew of other zombie films already crowding the shelves. Comic book fans also will be familiar with the story, as it is based on the popular El Muerto: The Aztec Zombie, created by Javier Hernandez. The DVD has an abundance of special features, most notably an exclusive collectible mini-comic book.
