HOMEVISION

Nina (Binoche) is a young actress who moves to Paris to find herself, and winds up becoming dramatically (and disastrously) involved with three men, including shy Paulot (Stanczak), who falls in love with her, and his roommate Quentin (Wilson). "La Binoche," as the French press lovingly call her, was only 21 when she starred in Rendez-vous, her first major screen role. She is amazingly lovely and fresh--looking much as she does today, in fact, to either the delight or disheartenment of American women. Men everywhere, however, will be delighted to find that the erotic drama is as sexually charged as promised, with numerous shots of Binoche au naturel. She might be known in this country for The English Patient and Chocolat, but it's movies such as Rendez-vous and Blue that really capture her sensuality and sophistication. Fans will be thrilled to see her here in a role before she became famous. Of note for French cinephiles: Director Téchiné (Wild Reeds, My Preferred Season) won the best director award at Cannes for this film, and co-screenwriter Olivier Assayas went on to become an important director in his own right with films such as Irma Vep.
