Story Line: A TV cameraman (Haggerty) is summoned to film the confession of a dying neighbor (Barry)--who says he was the "second shooter" whose rifle blast actually killed President John F. Kennedy in November, 1963. To prove it, the two travel the country in search of the remaining members of the conspiracy, but the assassin begins to unravel.

Bottom Line: This one actually had us going there for a while. Convincingly shot and edited in documentary style, Assassin improves on The Blair Witch Project conceit--is it real or is it fiction?--and generates unusual thrills and uncomfortable laughs as it tumbles to its insane conclusion. A skillful and consistently entertaining assemblage, Assassin is fortunate to have veteran character actor Barry at the top of his game as the bitter ex-Marine sniper who feels he has been betrayed by life. Recommend this one to thriller fans. For maximum effectiveness, don't tell them it's fake. --Buzz McClain
