EA's Majestic heads to CD-ROM

SEPT. 26 | Electronic Arts will distribute a CD-ROM version of Majestic for PC in the next two months, reportedly after attracting a disappointing number of subscribers to the online game.
Players who subscribe for $10 a month become enveloped in a conspiracy that results them in receiving phone calls, faxes, instant messages and e-mails that give hints. The game was suspended for a few days after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks in New York and Washington.
Reportedly, fewer than 13,500 people have subscribed to the game; in the months before its release, EA execs said tens of thousands of people had expressed interested in playing.
It was unknown if Majestic will continue online if a broader audience is attracted through the CD-ROM game.
