As her career in "show business" has risen, crashed and risen again during the past decade, former televangelist Tammy Faye Bakker has become a camp icon, particularly with the gay community, thanks largely to her inimitable attitude and screen presence and trademark eye mascara. This documentary, which generated a considerable buzz after screening last year at Sundance, gets up close and personal with Tammy Faye, who reveals herself to be as zany off-screen as she is on. Drag queen RuPaul Charles narrates the twisting tale, which is sprinkled with clips from every facet of Bakker's career and testimonials by Pat Boone, Jessica Hahn and others from her checkered past. While the film is accessible across the board, it will probably register best with cult audiences and gay clientele. --Buzz McClain
