JAN. 12 | Lionsgate has acquired the North American home video, theatrical and video-on-demand distribution rights to indie producer/distributor Mach 8's upcoming releases and the company's 62-title library, most of which have been released only in Mexico.
The first titles to be released in spring as singles and in box sets include features Violento Amenecer, Pantera Negra, Cadenas and Conspiracion.
The Mach 8 deal expands Lionsgate's Latino programming after having released all titles from Venevision's catalog of feature films and recently announced a feature film initiative with the upcoming La Mujer de Mi Hermana.
“Study after study shows the growth of the buying power of the Latino community in the U.S.,” said Lionsgate president Steve Beeks in a statement. “Mach 8 has a proven history of distributing quality movies, and we are thrilled to be able to give them exposure through theatrical, home video and VOD channels to the Latino community in the U.S. for the first time.”
