Elizabethtown

Paramount, color, PG-13, 123 min. plus supplements, Dolby Digital 5.1, widescreen, Street: Feb. 7, $29.95; First Run: W, Oct. 2005, $26.8 mil.

Despite featuring hot young stars Orlando Bloom and Kirsten Dunst and enough popular music to load up a jukebox, this latest romantic comedy from writer/director Cameron Crowe didn't click with critics or audiences. Though the film will likely garner considerable more attention on disc, those who are looking for notable supplemental materials are sure to be disappointed. This first version contains a pair of three-minute behind-the-scenes bits and two extended scenes, one of which—"Hanging With Russell in Memphis"—is so painfully long that it should have been deleted from the deleted scenes section. Throw in a photo gallery with photos by Neal Preston and a pair of trailers, and that's about it. If viewers want to see a clip of Crowe talking about shooting his film on location in Kentucky, they'll have to purchase the DVD on Amazon.com to be granted digital access to the exclusive clip. Yikes! Will Elizabethtown fans have to wait for the arrival of high-def to get a shot at an all-inclusive special edition? Stay tuned.
