Image adds to Special Committee

Standard Broadcasting's CFO Coriat also on board of indie supplier

OCT. 25 | Image Entertainment has added board member David Coriat to its independent Special Committee.

Formed last year, the Special Committee analyzes strategic opportunities for Image, including Lionsgate’s aggressive acquisition attempts.

Coriat serves as executive VP and chief financial officer at Canada’s Standard Broadcasting Corp., which is Image’s third-largest shareholder.

Coriat’s Image board seat had been in question for some time, as Lionsgate was fiercely campaigning to remove incumbents with its own opposing slate. But shareholders ultimately voted to retain Image incumbents, including Coriat.

“We are very happy to have David join the committee,” Special Committee chair Ira Epstein said. “In his capacity at Standard Broadcasting, David has had significant mergers and acquisitions experience, and I look forward to leveraging his expertise on behalf of the committee and all of Image’s shareholders.”

At the same time, Image announced it is set to release 1988 anime series Gunbuster on DVD on Feb. 20. Image licensed Gunbuster, headed to disc for the first time, from Bandai Visual.

Priced at $64.99, the Gunbuster set will feature six episodes spanning three discs. A 24-page booklet also will be included.
