Apple TV delayed until mid-March

Project taking "longer than we projected," says spokeswoman

FEB. 26 | Apple pushed back the February launch of Apple TV to mid-March, the company said Monday.

Apple TV will connect the computer to the TV, allowing users to play iTunes movies, TV shows or music on a TV set. Easily connecting the computer to the TV is thought to be key to growing the movie download business.

Apple TV is being watched closely because of the company’s success in the music and TV download business with the iPod and iTunes.

The box is priced at $299 and has a 40GB hard drive to save content.

Apple didn’t give a specific reason for the delay.

“Wrapping up Apple TV is taking a few weeks longer than we projected,” Apple spokeswoman Teresa Brewer said in an e-mailed statement.
