JUNE 1 | Retailers are in the business of constant change—and so are we. Just as you strive to continually improve your buying, merchandising, customer service and, ultimately, profit, we are striving to improve our coverage, staying just a bit ahead of the industry so we can help you determine in which direction it’s going and deliver that coverage to you faster and in ways that are easier to use.
To that end, our Web site relaunched last week with a new design and new features I am confident will give home entertainment retailers, distributors and program suppliers even more important information and tools to do their jobs.
The site now includes news from around the Web, for instance, serving as an aggregator for news of impact to the home entertainment industry from sources other than VB. These include our own sister publications ContentAgenda.com, TWICE, Variety, Multichannel News and Broadcasting & Cable, plus other outside sources.
We also have a feed from Expert Business Source, a new sister site for small businesses. As I’m writing, the EBS stories on our site cover the spectrum of small business issues, from the best colors for branding and marketing, to how to best use business credit cards, to formalizing your approach to risk management.
We’ve long grappled with how to provide our small business readers with more useful information, with limited room in the print magazine. I think EBS is a great resource.
VB’s new site also has a cleaner, newsier look and feel, with easier navigation, improved search and a new blog by yours truly.
I’m new to the blogosphere and am only hoping I can make the kind of contribution my colleagues Jen Netherby, Laurence Lerman and Samantha Clark make. They bridge current and emerging home entertainment businesses by providing daily new product information (Samantha), the creative back story for film buffs (Laurence) and tips to navigate the exploding world of online video and high-def (Jen).
All in all, the new Web site demonstrates our intention to provide readers with the broadest possible range of information, analysis and even a little entertainment.
Please let us know what you think.
