CinemaNow makes downloads viewable on TV through Xbox 360

By Susanne Ault -- Video Business, 7/18/2007

JULY 18 | CinemaNow has upgraded its service so its movie downloads can be watched on a TV through the Xbox 360 game console.

The move helps advance CinemaNow’s goal to make its content viewable on a variety of platforms, including PCs and TVs.

Customers can download a CinemaNow video onto a PC, and the service's Media Manager technology will identify the Xbox 360 on their home network. After customers receive the film on Windows XP or Windows Vista platforms, they can play back their selection on the TV using the Xbox 360 as a connective device.

The update also extends CinemaNow's download-and-burn service to Windows Vista users.

“CinemaNow is on a mission to enable simple and fast integration into our customers’ lives,” said Curt Marvis, CEO of CinemaNow. “This upgrade alone makes our entire library of more than 7,000 videos available to the millions of Xbox users who are downloading movies online and watching them on their TV.”
