"This filthy world… it's a beautiful place, isn't it?"
-- John Waters

Dubbed "the Pope of Trash" and branded "O for Offensive" by the Catholic Church, filmmaker John Waters made his bad reputation by turning bad taste into high art.

In THIS FILTHY WORLD, the writer-director of such cult classics as MULTIPLE MANIACS, PINK FLAMINGOS, POLYESTHER and HAIRSPRAY addresses a live theater audience in a hilarious and completely uncensored one-man-show.

Part confession, part Vaudeville act, THIS FILTHY WORLD takes on such taboo topics as pedophilia, gay marriage and drug use while Waters waxes rhapsodic on the joys of saying inappropriate things to children.

Directed by Jeff Garlin (CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM, ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT), THIS FILTHY WORLD also features the exclusive ON THE ROAD featurette produced by David Gregory. Watch as John Waters sits down in his home and discusses his life and career.

Bonus Features Include:
John Waters Q and A
John Waters: On The Road

> Waters' stand-up act is just what you'd expect: outrageous, cinema savvy and often hilarious.

Directed by HBO's Curb Your Enthusiasm co-star Jeff Garlin, this straightforward document of a one-man show in New York featuring “The Bergman of Baltimore” will please Waters' rabid fans, who will no doubt find the offbeat humor divine. A born raconteur who has published several books, Waters reviews his life and influences with a breezy charm and pitch black humor that will undoubtedly creep out non-fans. His anecdotes about former leading “lady” Divine, restaging the Kennedy assassination for an early film, working with some of his unusual casts and his life in crime (shoplifting records from a Korvette's Department Store) are the standout moments. Of his audio thievery, he says “I don't feel bad because those same records, I pay $25,000 for each today to put on soundtracks of my movies. So they got their money back.”

Shelf Talk: A cult favorite, Waters is now riding high on the success of the film version of Hairspray, which may make more mainstream audiences give Filthy World a look. They may be scared to find out what makes the originator of the family-friendly musical tick, but devotees will surely have a rollicking good time. After playing several high-profile film festivals, This Filthy World was a Netflix exclusive through the company's Red Envelope label. But this shouldn't curtail Waters enthusiasts who have supported him for decades.
