Prebook: now
> A nicely packaged collection of inspirational hymns and the stories behind them.
A collection of inspirational hymns in audio and video form, as well as the history behind many of them, can be found in this handsome package that contains a DVD, a CD and a booklet that offers sheet music and lyrics. “Amazing Grace,” “Rock of Ages,” “Silent Night” and “How Great Thou Art” are here on the CD, as well as 20 others, most of which are also covered in the DVD program, a three-hour affair that traces the hymns’ origins and growth over the years. Overall, this Collector’s Treasury is very respectable and a properly spiritual swath of sound and vision.
Shelf Talk: Collector’s Treasury has a built-in audience of church-goers, choir members and others for whom inspirational hymns are a part of their lives. It might be a little too late to get this one into the right hands before this year’s Easter celebration (March 23), but you should quickly let said hands know that it’s available. The aforementioned packaging is similar to that of an LP or laserdisc with a colorful image of a hymn singer and a flying dove on the front, so it will look striking on a shelf and should drum up interest (provided customers don’t think it’s actually an LP or laserdisc).
