> Talented actors highlight this painfully unfunny back-to-nature film.
Steve Zahn stars here as Peter Gaulke, the host of a long-running wildlife program whose ratings are in the toilet. Convinced that he needs to air something sensational, Peter takes his hapless crew on an ill-advised expedition to the Andes, where the legendary Bigfoot has just been sighted. The unrelenting tedium that ensues should embarrass everyone connected with this project, especially supporting players Jonah (Superbad) Hill and Justin (“I’m a Mac”) Long as well as guest stars Ernest Borgnine, Harry Hamlin, Robert Patrick and Joe Don Baker.
Shelf Talk: After languishing on the shelf for two years, Wilderness opened in February to abysmal reviews and weak ticket sales. But increasingly popular supporting players Long and Hill could stimulate more business than the film would otherwise merit. Their names and the other well-known actors in the cast must figure prominently in any in-store promotional materials to have the desired effect.
