> Paul Simon tracks through 11 hits in a 1980 Philly show.
Live From Philadelphia finds singer/songwriter Paul Simon and his band offering a set of 11 songs at Philadelphia’s Tower Theater in 1980. Touring to support the soundtrack of his biographical film One Trick Pony and still more than five years out from his Graceland rebirth, Simon and company offer pared-down, straight-on takes of such crowd favorites as “Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard” and “50 Ways to Leave Your Lover,” as well as the Simon and Garfunkel standards “The Boxer” and “The Sound of Silence.”
Shelf Talk: This Simon show has been issued on DVD before, most recently from Pioneer in 2003. It remains a popular and well-priced catalog item, though the 28-year-old program should have been remastered.
