DEC. 4 | Supply chain veterans have founded the Media & Entertainment Services Alliance (MESA) in order to address the evolving world of digital and physical media product and distribution.
MESA’s management team includes executive director Martin Porter, chief strategist Devendra Mishra and director of community development Guy Finley. The three are starting to recruit members to the new group, which hopes to represent the creative, production, distribution and technology segments of the home entertainment, music and electronic publishing businesses.
Porter, Mishra and Finley hope to announce members during the first part of 2009. They will hold regular meetings and conferences and host a Web community that will feature online business tools. Special task forces also will be created to advance media production and distribution goals.
More information can be found on its Web site, www.MESAlliance.org.
“These [targeted MESA members] are critical partners, as content holders reorganize their supply chains, innovate new business models and maximize their assets for a range of new technologies and emerging distribution channels,” Porter said. “We will represent the working community that will get the job done as media and entertainment expands its reach and role in response to consumer demand for a widening range of physical and digital formats.”
Porter is head of consulting firm Martin Porter Associates, which services the Consumer Electronics Show, among other clients. Mishra serves as conference chairman of the Entertainment Supply Chain Academy. Finley has been involved with the EPCglobal Item Level Tagging Public Policy Steering Committee and the Plastic DVD Packaging Standards Committee.
