> Thai love story with third-act swerve.
The debut feature from director Aditya Assarat, this absorbing drama concerns an architect (Anchalee Saisoontorn) who has a love affair with a lonely woman (Supphasit Kansen). The film is filled with quiet sequences that build a reflective mood—and then Assarat expertly shatters that calm with a menacing, yet still quiet finale. Town shows that Assarat is a talent to watch.
Shelf Talk: The best-known Thai titles are horror films from the Pang Brothers (The Eye, Bangkok Dangerous), but Asian cinema buffs are aware of the hypnotic quality of Thai dramas. Town received many positive reviews and garnered two awards at film festivals.
