> Kevin Rafferty returns with winning sports documentary.
The audience for this talking-head documentary is severely limited, as the film is illustrated with grainy game film and details a 41-year-old college football game. But the astonishing story and the remarkable cast widen its appeal to sports fans in general. Tommy Lee Jones (Al Gore’s roommate) is among those who recount the come-from-behind drive by Harvard in a match-up of undefeated teams. Director Kevin Rafferty (The Atomic Café) also interviews Brian Dowling (Garry Trudeau’s model for the Doonesbury character “B.D.”) as well as a player who roomed with George W. Bush, among others.
Shelf Talk: Harvard Beats Yale is already considered to be one of the great football movies. Kino will give it a push on the appropriate sports networks. Also expect Rafferty’s book version in October.
