Movie Gallery sets up hotline for landlords

PHYSICAL: No. 2 retailer could be falling behind on rent

By Susanne Ault and Danny King -- Video Business, 10/9/2009

OCT. 9 | PHYSICAL: Movie Gallery might be falling behind on rent at many of its locations.

The No. 2 U.S. movie-rental chain has set up a "real estate hotline" for its landlords. When landlords call 877.572.3148, the hotline promises a 48-hour response to their inquiry.

One landlord told Video Business that the chain was 20 days late paying rent to him.

Movie Gallery didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment.

Movie Gallery, which emerged from bankruptcy in May 2008, is closing 200 of its Game Crazy locations this month.
