OCT. 14 | DIGITAL: Video-on-demand and digital movie distributor Gravitas Ventures has inked a set of deals with a handful of independent producers, allowing it to distribute more than 250 independent films through major cable VOD and digital platforms this year and next.
Gravitas announced Tuesday deals with Empire Film Group, Imagination Worldwide, Johnson Production Group, Liberation Entertainment, Submarine Entertainment, the Film Sales Co., Traction Media, Well Go USA and Zeitgeist Films.
Gravitas distributes films through Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Verizon FiOS, Apple iTunes, Amazon Video On Demand and other leading cable and digital companies. Gravitas also has a deal with Warner Bros. Digital Distribution for select films. For example, Warner will distribute Johnson Film’s Toxic Skies in December and Empire’s War Eagle, Arkansas in February.
Gravitas CEO Nolan Gallagher said the deals will enable the company to deliver more theatrically released films to viewers following their film festival premieres.
