Walmart offers $50 gift card with purchase of Wii

PHYSICAL: Videogames also discounted by 15% to 20%

By Susanne Ault -- Video Business, 12/2/2009

DEC. 2 | PHYSICAL: Walmart is extending deals past Black Friday and Cyber Monday by offering a $50 chain gift card with the purchase of a $199 Nintendo Wii, starting this Saturday.

The deal will be valid through Dec. 12 while supplies last. At the same time, Walmart is offering 15% to 20% savings on the top 2009 videogames, including Halo: ODST and Tekken 6.

At the chain’s ‘Check Out’ blog, Walmart touts that its Wii promotion is the best deal going for the console.

“Even in these economic times, we see how important it is for Santa, Mom, Dad, Grandma, Grandpa, husbands, wives, boyfriends and girlfriends to be able to give the perfect gift,” the blog reads. “We also know that a lot of wish lists today—for all ages—include a range of videogames. Well, this weekend we’re planning to make a little ‘Wii History’ … so to speak.”

Additionally, the blog hints of other ‘surprises’ hitting stores on Saturday, indicating there could be further videogame deals in store.
