Trans World Entertainment posted wider losses in its first-quarter fiscal 2009, but the retailer touted stronger DVD and CD results than the overall industry. Trans World, which oversees the F.Y.E. chain, recorded a $13.7 million net loss for the three months ended May 2. That compares to the $11.8 million in red ink incurred for the same frame in 2008.
