Alexander Revisited: The Final Cut

WARNER
Street: Feb. 27, Prebook: Now
> This third cut is longer but still flawed.

Oliver Stone's third cut of Alexander adds 45 minutes to the already lengthy epic, which now contains variations on the narrative structure, more sex, extended action scenes and bloodier violence. In his introduction, the filmmaker speaks of creating this new cut to "make it clearer to the public." Clearer or not, it's still an overlong saga that lacks cohesion and powerful performances.

Shelf Talk: Having already been released on disc, it's unlikely that Alexander will conquer the retail world with this "Revisit." Warner is sweetening its potential conquest by including a movie cash offer for $10.50 for the studio's upcoming theatrical release of the graphic-novel-like ancient battle tale 300.

Historical drama, color, NR (mature themes, violence, nudity, sexual situations), 220 min., DVD $24.98
Extras: director's introduction
Director: Oliver Stone
First Run: W, Nov. 2004, $34.3 mil. (original theatrical cut)
