Buena Vista's DVD edition of Remember the Titans dispels a few myths and embellishments about the real coaches as portrayed in the film by Denzel Washington and Will Patton. For starters, white coach Bill Yoast says during an audio commentary that the players did not dance out onto the field as shown in one of the more memorable scenes, while black coach Herman Boone says that, amongst other things, an opposing coach made a remark about his players looking like a dog, not a monkey, as indicated in the movie. Still, these two are effusive in their praise for the dramatization of the mostly true story of the integration of black and white high school football teams in 1971 Virginia. It's the kind of inspirational, moving and wholesome live-action family movie that is produced too infrequently by the Walt Disney Co. The DVD also features a special program produced for Disney-owned ABC on the making of the movie as well as two behind-the-scenes featurettes. A second more conventional audio track features commentary by director Boaz Yakin, producer Jerry Bruckheimer and writer Gregory Allen Howard. --Scott Hettrick
