Story Line: Marine Sgt. Tommy Santoro (James Marsden) returns to his south Philadelphia neighborhood to find it overrun by the Mafia, which has his brother (Brad Renfro) and cousin (Giovanni Ribisi) under its thumb. Santoro reluctantly accepts the FBI's invitation to go undercover and infiltrate the Mob.
Bottom Line: Lionsgate continues to come on strong with this granite-tough thriller. In the tradition of Donnie Brasco, 10th & Wolf has everything needed for strong rental business: popular genre, plenty of derivative yet well-staged situations and action sequences, a dollop of sexuality and, best of all, a powerhouse cast. In addition to the above-named players, 10th & Wolf features Piper Perabo, Dennis Hopper, Lesley Ann Warren, Brian Dennehy, Val Kilmer and even rocker Tommy Lee. Any rentailer who can't make hay with a lineup like that should be in another business. But it's not just the names that will put this one over. This opus delivers in every way, and though it bears marked similarities to other famous gangster pictures, director Moresco, co-writer and co-producer of last year's Crash, manipulates familiar elements with impressive skill, resulting in a much more fresh and dynamic movie than expected.
