NOV. 9 | INDIE FILM GUIDE: Virgil Films & Entertainment and B-Side Entertainment are teaming up on the release and promotion of Last Cup: Road to the World Series of Beer Pong, a documentary coming to DVD under Virgil’s Morgan Spurlock Presents banner. Spurlock, of Super Size Me fame, served as an executive producer of the film, which was directed by Dan Lindsay.

Virgil will release its documentary Dec. 29.

The fifth annual World Series of Beer Pong will be held in Las Vegas on Jan. 1-5, 2010. “Beer pong is a sport,” says Billy Gaines, co-founder of Bpong.com, which hosts the championship and is the official governing body of beer pong.

Beer pong is a game usually played by those who are college-age, and it is similar to ping pong, except the object of the game is to bounce the ping pong ball into cups of beer.

Promotion for the tournament and DVD is under way. Screening events are being held in bars, restaurants and other venues, and Bpong.com is running a competition in which the host of the event that gets the most votes on LastCupMovie.com wins an entry to the tournament, with round-trip airfare for a two-person team and accommodations for four nights at the Flamingo Hotel and Casino.

Last Cup comes to DVD Dec. 29 (prebook Nov. 24; $19.99).
