I cant believe people are still buying VHS tapes... the only VHS that should be on the shelves are blank tapes! The last VHS i bought was Shrek in 2000... and it is pretty much dead... The first DVD i bought was Beauty and the Beast... and i have never turned back... the sound/video qualities are alot better and the extra material is fantastic for fans. Sure i have kept my old VHS tapes (and rewind/fast forward them each year... :) ) but i have bought most of the same DVDs... I can completely understand why studios dont sell VHS tapes any more... they dont do movies justice!

Who is still buying VHS and where are they buying from? Half the studios have dropped VHS and no major retailer carries it. The distributor we order from doesn't carry it anymore. Even Wal-Mart seems to have dropped it altogether earlier this year, from every store I have visited. Are these consumers buying it online? A cursory search on Amazon reveals new (but not newly produced)and used VHS movies still for sale. Many are priced higher for a used VHS than the same movie currently available on DVD new unopened. Can someone explain the mentality behind this?
