Supermarket DVDs go off the rack
Stealing a DVD from a rack at the local 7-Eleven is easy. Stealing one from a Redbox kiosk is a different story. That’s one reason more supermarkets are either shrinking their DVD selection or eliminating DVD racks altogether in favor of automated kiosks. The machines also take up far less floor space and could increase customer visits. Full story
EMA Digital Council addresses digital delivery
The grocery channel is redefining its relationship with video by making the move toward rental kiosks; eventually, that could include manufactured-on-demand kiosks as well. Rather than focusing specifically on supermarkets, the Entertainment Merchants Assn. has decided to address the practical problems of the overall home entertainment digital delivery business.
