OCT. 20 | Starlight Home Entertainment has inhaled DVD rights to Oxygen Media’s original TV content. Starlight will first distribute on Nov. 7 Girls Behaving Badly Volume One.
Three additional sets of the hidden camera prank show are slated to soon follow. Oxygen’s highest-rated show, Monique’s Fat Chance, featuring a beauty pageant for plus-sized women, will arrive on DVD on Feb. 6. Starlight also has slated Oxygen original movies Romancing the Bride, starring Carrie Fisher, on Jan. 9, and Nadine in Dateland, with Janeane Garofalo, on Jan. 23. Starlight is planning radio giveaways, in-store talent events, among other activities, for the Oxygen releases.
“We are thrilled to team up with Oxygen Media, as they offer some of the cleverest content out there for women,” Starlight president Matt Feinstein said. “We have great experience packaging, marketing and selling quality DVDs geared toward women.” The supplier has released a number of TV DVDs, including classic episodes of Davey and Goliath, and Lifetime Television female-driven movies. “DVD versions of Oxygen original programming are the single most requested items from our viewers,” said Debby Beece, Oxygen president of programming and marketing. “Starlight should be able to give our lineup of titles the attention it deserves at stores, in catalogs and at Internet retailers.”
