MAY 7 | Bill Clark has been promoted to president of Starz Home Entertainment, from executive VP and general manager of the division.

Clark continues to oversee Starz Media’s home entertainment businesses worldwide, including Anchor Bay Entertainment and the new DVD releases from Starz unit Overture Films.

“Over the past year, Bill has been instrumental in the growth of this division and the transition to our new ownership,” Starz Media vice chairman John Hyde said in a statement. “Under his direction, the company has increased its share of the rental business tremendously, opened a number of new key accounts, signed significant entertainment properties and consistently exceeded goal expectations.”

“I look forward to continuing to expand on the company’s legacy as well as offering consumers new ways in which to enjoy the Starz Home Entertainment experience,” said Clark. “I am also looking forward to the addition of the new Overture Films, including the recently announced Mad Money with Diane Keaton, Queen Latifah and Katie Holmes; Ferris Wheel, featuring Charlize Theron, Nick Stahl and Dennis Hopper; and 105 Degrees and Rising.”

Starz Home Entertainment has said it will distribute eight to 12 wide theatrical releases annually on DVD, as it brings titles from recently formed sister studio Overture to retail.

Overture plans to release dramas, thrillers, comedies, horror films and urban projects, which will be produced in-house and acquired. All titles will premiere theatrically and then be serviced through Starz’s cable and digital channels as well as its DVD unit.

Before joining Starz, Clark served as chief operating officer and chief financial officer at Ventura Entertainment Enterprises. He also has held senior operating officer roles at EMI Recorded Music, The Walt Disney Studios, Universal Studios Home Entertainment and Spelling Entertainment.
