Executive move part of studio's ongoing restructuring
By Jennifer Netherby -- Video Business, 6/18/2007
JUNE 18 | Universal Studios Home Entertainment upped Tom Emrey to executive VP and chief operating officer as part of the studio’s ongoing restructuring, the company announced today.
Emrey
Emrey, previously chief financial officer, continues to report to Craig Kornblau, president of USHE and Universal Pictures Digital Platforms Group. The move comes a month after the studio moved its digital movie business and video-on-demand and mobile entertainment divisions under Kornblau, who already headed the studio’s home entertainment division.
“As we turn our attention to realizing the tremendous potential afforded by emerging digital technologies, we sought an executive whose primary objective would be to maintain our consistent focus on growth,” Kornblau said in a statement announcing the promotion. “Tom is ideally suited for this role. During his four years as CFO, he has consistently demonstrated his ability to identify lucrative opportunities and to develop and implement bold strategies.”
In his new role, Emrey will oversee USHE’s strategy, research, creative and marketing, technical services, operations and logistics and supply chain across all the division’s businesses.
Emrey joined USHE as CFO in 2003. Prior to that he was VP of finance at Nestle USA, where he played a key role in the company’s acquisition of Ralston Purina Company. Emrey also held finance positions at Silgan Containers, Lockheed Advanced Development Company and Arthur Young & Company (now Ernst & Young.)
