JULY 16 | Starbucks Entertainment has inked a deal with NBC Universal Television Distribution to exclusively sell Saturday Night Live: The Best of ’06/’07 at its U.S. locations, the companies announced today.
Starbucks will begin selling the DVD on Aug. 28. The DVD includes highlights from the past year, including digital short "D**k in a Box"with Justin Timberlake, a mock boy band video that was widely shared online. Bonus features include dress rehearsal footage, cast commentary and a bonus DVD with an episode of NBC sitcom 30 Rock and deleted scenes from the show’s first season.
The DVD was produced by Broadway Video Enterprises and NBC Universal and is NBC Universal Television’s only exclusive DVD distribution deal.
“Saturday Night Live and 30 Rock are two of the funniest, most intelligent comedies on TV,” Starbucks Entertainment president Ken Lombard said. “Through this exclusive DVD offering, Starbucks and NBC Universal will offer our customers a chance to get a little comedy with their coffee.”
NBC Universal TV Distribution VP of video music and product development Shelli Hill said the partnership offers a new way to reach their audience in a changing marketplace.
In April, Starbucks began stocking select new release DVDs at its stores after bringing in specialty titles here and there.
