> Talky chamber drama features star turns by Steve Buscemi and Sienna Miller.
Based on late filmmaker Theo Van Gogh’s 2003 film, this American version stars Sienna Miller as soap actress Katya and Steve Buscemi as political journalist Pierre, who has been assigned to interview her, much to his reluctance. When the two first meet, the encounter begins with hostility and misunderstandings, but as the night progresses and the two characters wind up in Katya’s apartment, they form a strange intimacy, full of sexual and emotional tension. Though dialog-heavy and occasionally over the top, Interview is an intriguing exercise for these actors and offers some unexpected twists toward the end.
Shelf Talk: Fans of the original will be curious to see this remake, as will followers of the two stars, “It Girl” Miller (Factory Girl, Layer Cake) and journeyman Buscemi (Art School Confidential, Ghost World). Interview is a talky psychological drama that’s best targeted at your arthouse lovers and indie film followers. And the box art touts several film-festival nods next to the sizable images of its two leading players, so play that up as well.
