The popular pint-sized rockers from Nickelodeon get their first box set.
Street: Jan. 8
Prebook: now

The “Naked Brothers” are the two child actor-musician sons of Thirtysomething’s Polly Draper, who masterminded this hit Nickelodeon series (the band’s odd name is an in-family joke; not literal). The show is a pleasantly souped-up version of The Monkees, albeit with kids and a mockumentary approach. Filled with cutesy story lines (such as a Battle of the Bands or a Halloween fright-fest), the show is innocuous enough and won’t grate on any adult nerves. This set includes the 13 episodes that comprised the first season, plus a whole disc of music videos and segments that appeared on Nick.com and on Nick as interstitials, with titles including “Nat and Alex Rock Out and Speak Out.”

Shelf Talk: Not to be confused with the Jonas Brothers (a teen band being touted by the Disney Channel), Naked Brothers has established a strong franchise and fan following on Nick. This box surely will be touted heavily on that network and will have little girls clamoring for it, even though all the content has already appeared on TV and Nick.com (no off-screen supplements are included). Stock well but also wisely—the brothers may be red-hot now, but might be gone as quick as you can say “Hanson.”

Children’s TV, color, NR (nothing offensive), 301 min., DVD $26.99
Extras: music videos, Nick.com Webisodes, “How to Rock” tutorials
Directors: Various
First Run: Nickelodeon
NICKELODEON/PARAMOUNT
