> Leading indie band holds a 'Garden party’ for charity.
The indie band Dispatch, who cultivated an immense following in the late ’90s through the Web and live performances, are seen here playing at Madison Square Garden in July 2007. The occasion was a three-night, sold-out engagement staged to benefit the people of Zimbabwe. The film showcases the three band members’ instrumental talents and the range of their music, from folk and straight-ahead pop to reggae and funk-inflected rock.
Shelf Talk: Though the band members have gone their separate ways and only reunite for special events such as the MSG gig, Dispatch still enjoys a solid reputation as one of the finer jam bands in the last decade. The distributors of this DVD/CD package are planning to reach out to music magazines and college newspapers, in addition to maintaining an aggressive viral marketing campaign to Web sites, backed by press opportunities with the band.
