DEG unveils Green Entertainment Awards

APRIL 2 | The most environmentally friendly DVD of last year was 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment’s Futurama: Bender’s Big Score, according to DEG: The Digital Entertainment Group.
The DEG handed out seven Green Entertainment Awards today at the inaugural Green Media Summit, held at the Luxe Hotel in Los Angeles.
The award winners were selected for their eco-friendly content, packaging, manufacturing and/or distribution.
The DEG also named Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment’s Larry Wilk the first Green Ambassador of the Year, recognized for his dedication to advancing environmental initiatives in the home entertainment industry.
“We are delighted that the home entertainment communityis embracing eco-friendly solutions that will help lessen the effects on climate change,” said Amy Jo Smith, DEG executive director. “We give particular recognition to Disney’s Larry Wilk who is a crusader for embracing environmental friendly practices in the industry.”
