The Wu-Tang Clan: Live at the Montreux Jazz Festival 2007

By Ed Grant -- Video Business, 9/22/2008

EAGLE VISION
Street: Oct. 7
Prebook: now
> The reunited rap supergroup puts on an energetic, nasty rhyme-filled show.

In this concert release, the rap posse known as Wu-Tang Clan ignites a Swiss audience with a selection of their group and solo tunes. The performance includes appearances by such WTC friends as Cappadonna and Streetlife, but the focus is on the reunion of the key members who have become stars in their own right: the RZA, Gza, Method Man, Raekwon and Ghostface Killah. The group gives the audience its money’s worth with a high-energy show, highlighted by a tribute to late WTC member Ol’ Dirty Bastard.

Shelf Talk: The Wu-Tang Clan might no longer be MTV favorites, but they remain in the forefront of rap and have a diehard following. WTC fans purchase their music, books about them and a full line of clothing (including loafers!) at their Web site, so a performance DVD is a no-brainer.

Concert, color, NR (language), 82 min., DVD $19.98
Extras: none
Director: Thierry Amsallem
