> Fascinating how-to guide for aspiring gory-movie makers.
In this relatively short documentary, makeup and FX specialist Tom Savini—whose work dominated the early splatter-film era—gives step-by-step lessons in creating gory, realistic special effects. Savini, whose credits include Dawn of the Dead, Creepshow and Friday the 13th, is a living legend to horror-movie mavens, and his demonstrations here will particularly enthrall wannabe filmmakers and curious fans.
Shelf Talk: This is a specialty item that needs to be promoted to fright-film connoisseurs, especially those who dote on gruesome gorefests such as Dawn of the Dead (Savini’s signature film). Coming from a small indie label, Horror Effects won’t get mass-market promotional support, so you’ll have to plug it on a case-by-case basis to customers you know to be fans.
