EAA raises $113,000 for AIDS charities

Winetasting and auction raised $40,000 with record attendance and on-site contributions

OCT. 28 | The Entertainment AIDS Alliance (EAA, formerly VIAAC) said today that it raised about $113,000 with two fundraisers.

The group’s June Wine & Wisdom winetasting and auction raised $40,000 with record attendance and on-site contributions.

EAA’s Visionary Awards, this year honoring Target and Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment, raised nearly $73,000. Held each fall for the past 11 years, the Visionary Awards has raised a total of nearly $602,456.

“Our generous 2008 event sponsors and guests made this success possible,” said EAA president David Bowers. “The Entertainment AIDS Alliance relies on the generosity of companies and individuals in our industry to continue our support of the UCLA AIDS Institute’s CARE Center and other worthy organizations across the country. Their dedication and work on behalf of those affected by this disease is critical and we are proud to assist them in their efforts.”

The Wine & Wisdom take contributed to EAA’s largest donation to date of $50,000 to Elizabeth Taylor’s Endowment Fund benefitting the UCLA AIDS Institute’s CARE Center. EAA has raised more than $184,000 for the Fund through the Wine & Wisdom event, started in 2003.
