Twilight midnight parties scheduled for March 20
Blockbuster, Wal-Mart among retailers to celebrate

MARCH 2 | Summit Home Entertainment will throw midnight Twilight release parties nationwide on March 20, celebrating the film’s Saturday, March 21, DVD/Blu-ray Disc bow.
When the studio confirmed the March 21 bow earlier this year, management said the studio chose the non-traditional Saturday rollout so the film's teen fans would be able to attend midnight launch parties at stores.
There will be nearly 5,800 Twilight storefront bashes. Blockbuster, Borders, F.Y.E., Hastings Entertainment, Hot Topic and Wal-Mart are among retailers participating in the parties.
The official Twilight Web site has a section where fans can enter their zip code to find the nearest party.
Leading up to the event, the site also will include information about upcoming surprises relating to the Twilight actors.
Hastings has revealed some of its own party details, including hosting blood drives at select outlets in honor of the film's vampire theme. Its Hardback Coffee Cafe will serve drinks named after rival characters Edward and Jacob. There will also be a special sale on all used products during the two hours leading up to the midnight Twilight bow.
“We wanted to say thank you to all of those who came out in droves last year and helped make [novel author] Stephenie Meyer's characters and story a truly successful movie," said Steve Nickerson, president of Summit. "What better way to celebrate than a weekend party with your fellow Twilight fans."
