AUG. 10 | PHYSICAL: Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment will unloose Up on Nov. 10 as a four-disc Blu-ray/DVD combo pack ($45.99); two-disc standard DVD ($39.99) and a single DVD.
Disney/Pixar's Up grossed $279 million in theaters.
The title is the next major 3D theatrical film that will roll out without the eye-popping effects on DVD and Blu-ray Disc. Advanced, or stereoscopic, 3D technology standards have not yet been set for home viewing.
DreamWorks Animation and distributor Paramount Home Entertainment also recently chose to bow Monsters vs. Aliens on Sept. 29 without 3D to avoid having to downgrade the film’s theatrical imagery to anaglyph form.
A Disney spokeswoman confirmed that the title will lack 3D effects. The studio has included anaglyph glasses for such previous releases as The Jonas Brothers 3D Concert Experience and Hannah Montana and Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert, but did not for Bolt.
Disney is packing a lot of bonus features into Up, especially on Blu-ray. Exclusive extras in the high-def set include “Cine-Explore,” a visual clip montage illustrating the director’s commentary; BD Live-enabled “Global Guardian Badge Game;” and several featurettes on characters Russell, Carl, Kevin the bird, among other items.
The Blu-ray and two-DVD versions both include digital copy.
Prebook date is Sept. 1.
