DVD consumers say yes to The Proposal

PHYSICAL: Land of the Lost lands at No. 1 in DVD rentals

By Cheryl Cheng -- Video Business, 10/21/2009

OCT. 21 | PHYSICAL: Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment’s romantic comedy The Proposal, which grossed $163.6 million at the box office, debuted as the No. 1 DVD seller, according to Rentrak. It also landed in the Top 3 on the DVD rental and Blu-ray Disc rental and sales charts.

In the film, Sandra Bullock stars as a pushy boss who convinces her assistant (Ryan Reynolds) to marry her so that she can stay in the U.S.

Universal Studios Home Entertainment’s Land of the Lost proved popular among renters, landing at No. 1 on the DVD rental chart and No. 2 on the Blu-ray rental chart.

The Will Ferrell-starring movie is based on the ’70s TV series about an alternate universe full of dinosaurs and other fantastic creatures.

Meanwhile, Disney’s 1937 classic Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, which launched the studio’s Diamond Collection of legacy animated titles on Blu-ray, remained the No. 1 high-def seller.
