Family Guy Darkside trailer premieres on iTunes

PHYSICAL: Fox gives online service exclusive for DVD/Blu-ray movie

Family Guy: Something Something Something Darkside will be on DVD and Blu-ray Dec. 22.

NOV. 23 | PHYSICAL: 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment will premiere the trailer for its upcoming made-for-DVD/Blu-ray Family Guy: Something, Something Darkside movie exclusively on iTunes starting tomorrow morning.

The trailer is nearly an exact remake of the original trailer for Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, roles from which Family Guy characters play in Something, Something Darkside.

The latest movie in the Family Guy franchise streets on DVD ($22.98), Blu-ray ($29.99) and as an iTunes download ($9.99 standard-definition, $14.99 high-definition) on Dec. 22.

This is the first time Fox has offered a trailer or other DVD/Blu-ray-related digital bonus features exclusively on iTunes.

However, studios seem to be increasingly eyeing the Apple store as a destination to launch extra title content. Paramount Home Entertainment offered exclusive Star Trek bonus features only on iTunes. Universal Studios Home Entertainment, Lionsgate, Paramount and Fox also are enhancing Blu-ray and/or DVD titles with bonus interactivity via Apple’s iPhone.
