Santa Buddies was the No. 1 DVD seller in its debut week.

DEC. 2 | PHYSICAL: Released just in time for the holiday shopping season, Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment’s DVD premiere Santa Buddies, the fourth installment in the popular Buddies franchise, was the No. 1 DVD seller this week, according to Rentrak.

It was followed by Warner Home Video’s 2008 holiday movie Four Christmases, starring Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn. The film also was the No. 1 DVD rental.

Despite grossing $133.4 million at the box office, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment’s Angels & Demons had a modest debut on the charts, at No. 3 in DVD sales and No. 2 in Blu-ray Disc sales. Sony simultaneously released the summer blockbuster on video-on-demand and home video.

Another notable new release, Universal Studios Home Entertainment’s Funny People was popular among renters, debuting as the third-ranked DVD rental.

The Judd Apatow comedy starring Adam Sandler and Seth Rogen grossed $51.8 million in theaters.

And Summit Home Entertainment’s Twilight, which is the best-selling DVD so far this year, fell only two spots in the DVD sales charts to No. 10. The sequel, The Twilight Saga: New Moon, was the No. 1 theatrical film for a second week.
