OCT. 29 | PHYSICAL: Home entertainment is part of Sears’ Black Friday plans, as the retailer is offering $149 Sony and Samsung Blu-ray Disc players, among other deals, according to ads leaked online.
Sears will offer Sony and Samsung Blu-ray players for $149.99.
That player tag, covering Sony’s BD Live model BDP-S360 and Samsung Netflix-streaming BD-P1600, represents a $50 price chop off current retail pricing.
Although Sears’ discount plans offer significant savings, many industry observers believe retailers will do even better, with $99 players from major brands during this critical kick-off to the holiday season.
Sears also is expected to roll out a $9.99 deal on recent spring DVD releases, including 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment’s Marley & Me, MGM Home Entertainment’s Quantum of Solace and Sony Pictures Home Entertainment’s Paul Blart: Mall Cop.
Plus a $3.99 tag will be put on many high-profile movies on DVD, such as Fox’s The Devil Wears Prada and The Fantastic Four.
Meanwhile, Best Buy has jumped the gun on Black Friday and is now offering its in-house Insignia-branded Blu-ray player for $99, marking $50 in savings. Unlike the Sony and Samsung players featured in the Sears ad, the Insignia player is not Web-enabled.
