Sicko DVD

Weinstein and Genius have chosen election day for the release of Michael Moore’s health care system exposé, Sicko. Seems like it kind of goes against Moore's purpose, doesn't it? Shouldn't it come out a week before so it's on people's minds as they vote? I don't know.

Anyway, the documentary will debut on DVD on Nov. 6 (prebook Sept. 25) priced at $29.95. Nice box art, eh?

(Honestly, if you haven't seen this yet, go see it. It's quite eye-opening. Sure, some people don't like Moore's heavy-handed style. But when you hear that one woman was denied payment for an ambulance ride after she was unconsious from a car accident because the ambulance wasn't pre-approved, you know something's wrong.)

The third-highest-grossing documentary of all time, Sicko will come to disc with almost 30 minutes of additional footage, an interview gallery, footage of the Los Angeles premiere and a music video.

Also bowing the same day is Moore detractor Manufacturing Dissent from Liberation Entertainment, distributed by Starz, and similarly themed Michael Moore Hates America will be released by Allumination Filmworks Oct. 16.

Something for everyone.

Oh, and no word on a high-def version of Sicko, but Weinstein has put out movies on HD DVD in the past, but usually not the same day as DVD, so a Sicko HD DVD could be coming soon.
