Cam Gigandet on Camera, Part II
August 6, 2008

Here's the second part of Ed Hulse's interview with actor Cam Gigandet, one of the stars of Summit Media's Never Back Down and a featured players in the upcoming theatrical feature Twilight.

As it happens, Cam was already familiar with Stephenie Meyer’s best-selling franchise on young vampires when he auditioned for the role in Twilight.

“My girl friend at the time finished the first book in the series and gave it to me to read. I really liked it, so two months later, when I heard it was being filmed, I told my agent, ‘Hey, try to get me in this movie.’”

Making Twilight put many demands on the actor’s physicality. Cam didn’t have a long or arduous training process like he did for Never Back Down, but he performed many flamboyant stunts.

“Man, there are some really extreme, extravagant action scenes in this movie,” he reports. “I did a lot of wire work, and I had to master some pretty complicated moves. It’s going to be an awesome film.”

For now, Cam Gigandet is content to play bad boys, especially because the darker roles are helping him master his craft.

"I’m still learning a lot about acting,” he says. “Ultimately I want to play every kind of character, but I want to do it well.” From our point of view, he’s off to a good start.—Ed Hulse
