My Breakfast with Deepak
May 3, 2007

I attended a small press breakfast for Deepak Chopra in New York the other day organized by Fox Home Entertainment in part to promote the May release of Chopra’s new latest DVD, The Seven

Spiritual Laws of Success. Based on the best-selling 2003 book by the famed doctor and author, the disc is available on May 8 for a suggested retail price of $19.98.

It was a rainy day in NYC and I got to the breakfast at the Hotel Plaza Athenee a little late. (Damn those East Side subways on rainy days!) I knew I was in for something special when I quietly crept up to the table and heard that my fellow press people and Chopra (who was sporting a cool pair of glasses) were discussing altered states of consciousness. Yikes…and I hadn’t even ordered my breakfast yet!!

It was actually quite a pleasant affair—Chopra was a wholly engaging and polite gentleman, always careful to listen to what others had to say before calmly and confidently offering his own opinion. Most of our breakfast chat revolved around his Seven Spiritual Laws (without having seen the disc yet, I can tell you that my favorite on is already “Law of Least Effort”) and the body’s self-healing process. We didn’t get into the matter of intelligent design, so things matters remained relatively calm.

Oh, and I ordered a Western omelet with extra ham that went down quite well!
