MARCH 7 | The National Assn. of Video Distributors will meet in Santa Monica, Calif., next week for its 25th annual conference with suppliers.
During a March 12 cocktail party, the trade group will honor the five major studios that have supported the organization and its conference for each of its 25 years: Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment, 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment, Paramount Home Entertainment, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment and Warner Home Video.
NAVD also will give out its Larry Hilford Award, an occasional honor bestowed on a supplier executive who has been unusually supportive of distributors.
Six wholesalers will be in attendance: AEC, Baker & Taylor, Flash Distributors, Ingram Entertainment, Entertainment One and WaxWorks/VideoWorks.
At the NAVD conference’s inception a quarter century ago, about two dozen wholesalers attended.
A dozen suppliers will be there this year, NAVD executive director Bill Burton said: Disney, Fox, Warner, Paramount, Sony, Lionsgate, Anchor Bay, Echo Bridge Home Entertainment, Genius Products, Image Entertainment, Vivendi Entertainment and WEA Corp.
