Gone With the Wind goes Blu

The top box-office grossing film of all time is coming to Blu-ray in the fourth quarter. Warner Home Video is releasing Gone With the Wind in a 70th anniversary Ultimate Collector’s Edition on both DVD and Blu-ray. The limited and numbered package will contain a restored version of the film, new documentaries and loads of bonus features, as well as premium items including a hardcover book with photos, a reproduction of the original 1939 souvenir program, eight 5x7 art prints and a CD soundtrack sampler. Ally debuts on DVD

One of the last remaining big TV series fans have been calling for on DVD is coming from 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment. Ally McBeal is being released with the original music from the show—often an obstacle in releasing TV series on DVD because of rights problems. The series will arrive as a complete 32-disc megaset with extras and all five seasons; the first season also will be available separately in a six-disc set. —C.S.

Dwarfs launches Disney’s Diamond

Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment is bringing the classic that started Disney’s animated movie run to Blu-ray as a top-of-the-line Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs: Diamond Edition, the inaugural title under the Diamond Collection. The Blu-ray will be packaged with a standard DVD and includes state-of-the-art special features. —C.S.
